How to price tracking for your clients.
Your costs per vehicle.
| Cost | When you pay it | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Platform | Monthly, at a fixed plan price | $1.00 a device on a full Starter plan, falling to 22.5 cents on a full 2,000-device plan. |
| SIM data | Monthly, per tracker | Your network's IoT or M2M price. Trackers use very little data, but cameras use a lot more. |
| Hardware | Once, per vehicle | Sell it at a markup or spread the cost over a contract. |
| Fitting | Once, per vehicle | Your installer's rate, or your own time if you fit it yourself. |
| Support | Ongoing | Answering questions, moving units between vehicles and replacing SIMs. Allow a few hours a month for each client. |

This is before hardware, fitting, your time and tax. The branded client app costs an extra $50 once, if you want it.
Three ways to charge.
Monthly per vehicle
Charge a fixed fee for each tracked vehicle and sell the hardware separately. It's easy to quote and invoice, and easy for clients to compare.
Bundled contract
Include the hardware and fitting, and recover the cost over a 24 or 36-month contract. The client pays less to start, but you carry the cost of the unit until it's paid off.
Tiered services
Set a price for basic tracking, then sell add-ons for cameras, fuel monitoring or driver ID. Your average price per vehicle goes up as clients add services.
Billing without extra software
You can bill clients straight from the platform. Invoices go out monthly at the prices you set, and each one has a link so the client can pay online.
Allow for the next plan
When you get close to your plan's limit, you'll need the next one. It costs less per device once it's full, but you pay the higher monthly fee while it's still filling up. Build that step into your prices from the start, so moving up doesn't eat into your margin.
Questions about setting prices
Should I sell the hardware or include it in the monthly fee?
Both work. Selling the tracker up front keeps your cash flow simple. Building it into a longer contract lowers the client's starting cost, but you fund the unit yourself and need them to sign for a fixed term.
Can the platform invoice my clients for me?
Yes. The billing module sends each client a monthly invoice for their devices at your prices. It can also send quotes and statements when you need them.
How do I charge for dashcam video or fuel monitoring?
Charge for them as add-ons on top of basic tracking. Cameras and fuel probes cost more to buy and fit, and fleets that need them expect to pay more each month.
